The Main directions of scientific and information-analytical work:

- analysis of military-political relations of Ukraine with Russia in context of development of world ambience of safety, forecasting of change and trends of Ukrainian-Russian relations in military-political and military-technical spheres;

- the study of condition and experience of reforming of armed forces and defended-industrial complexes (DIC) of Ukraine and Russian Federation, determination of possibilities of use the Russian experience for Ukraine;

- the determination of national interests in sphere is military-technical cooperation (MTC), analysis of the markets of arms and military services, place on them of Ukraine and RF. The analysis of condition, operation and efficiency of systems MTC, possibilities of their interaction;

- the study of condition and possibilities MTC Ukraines and RF, searching for of ways and directions of mutually beneficial cooperation in sphere of the general developments, production, repair and servicing the arms and military technology;

- the study of problems of military cooperation of RF and Ukraine with NATO;

- the development and filling of WEB-page of the Institute;

- filling of the information base of the Institute "Lotus Notes" and information base of the Department.

- Analysis of military-political situation in region, forecasting of its development and influences upon relations of Ukraine and Russian Federation.

- Monitoring of the development of military-political situation on Balkans and North Caucasus, as well as armed conflicts on post-Soviet space.

- The study of cardinal change of the international ambience of safety and their influences upon national safety of Ukraine.

- Tracing and forecasting of development of events in Crimea and in questions of basing of Black Sea Nevy on territory of Ukraine.
